Tuesday, May 12th
Frog Dissection Day--
If you were absent: See Mrs. Caldwell for the make-up assignment. You cannot make up the dissection.
Upcoming Due Dates: 1.The unit project is due on Monday 5/18 at the end of class. You cannot turn any part of the project in late as this is the last day of school. 2. The semester final exam is on Wednesday 5/20 for period 7 and Thursday 5/21 for 8th period. Final Exam study guides are optional, but also due on exam day for 20 points extra credit.

Today we are continuing with the exploration of the similarities and differences between amphibian (frog) anatomy and mammal (human) anatomy. Please use the following sites to complete the virtual frog dissection.
Upcoming Due Dates: 1. Mammal & Amphibian Body Systems Flipbook due NO LATER than Tues. 5/12 . You WILL NOT be able to participate in the frog dissection if your flipbook is not complete. Today we are continuing with body structures of mammals. We are also going to compare mammalian body systems to frog body systems.
If you were absent: Please view the powerpoints. Please use the information in the powerpoints to fill out the frog (amphibian) sections of your flipbook and use the human body systems powerpoint to fill out the circulatory / respiratory section. You will need to use the textbook pgs. 935-937 to fill out the integumentary information for mammals.
Upcoming Due Dates: Your COMPLETED flipbook is due no later than Tuesday, May 12th. If your book is not complete by the due date, you CANNOT participate in the frog dissection.
Completed books include:
1. The function of each body system in both frog and mammals. 2. A complete list of the structures and their functions for the mammal side. 3. a detailed, labelled, colored diagram for each mammalian and frog body system. (can be printed or hand-drawn. If printed the diagram must be sized to fit the space in your flipbook._ 4. A list of similiar/same structures found in frogs as in mammals on the frog structures section for each body system. 5. A list of different structures AND a description of their function found in frogs in the frog structures section for each body system.

Today we started learning about the structure and functions of the body systems we are going to explore in the frog dissection. We also watched the first half of the video "What Darwin Never Knew" to support what we learned about the evidences for evolution.

1. Please see Mrs. Caldwell for paper to make a 6 tab foldable. We wrote in information for the digestive system, muscular system and excretory system. You will need to copy this information from a friend.
2. Watch the first 55 minutes of the video "What Darwin Never Knew". You can access the video from the tab below. Answer the questions that go with this part of the video on the worksheet which you can also access below.

Today was a shortened day due to ACT testing in the morning.
If you were absent: Get a notes packet from the crate in the room. Then, view the following Powerpoint and website to get information to fill in the notes packet, or, come in at lunch or after school to copy the notes from the binder in the room. On the back of your packet...include information about the differences between vertebrates and invertebrates, and notes on the characteristics of fish (jawless, cartilaginous & bony)
**You can view the skeleton video just for extra information if you want to. It is optional.
